FOR EVERYONE

Accessibility

We want every guest to be able to use this website with dignity, comfort and independence. Here is what we have done, and how to reach us if something is not working for you.

General

We strive to ensure that our services are accessible to people with disabilities. We have invested significant resources to make this website easier to use and more accessible, with the strong belief that every person has the right to live with dignity, equality, comfort and independence.

Accessibility on our website

Here is a list of actions we have taken to make our site more accessible and in compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 standard.

UserWay Website Accessibility Widget

The software allows us to increase compliance with WCAG 2.0, ATAG 2.0, ADA and Section 508 requirements.

The UserWay menu is available on every page and can be enabled by clicking the accessibility menu icon on the left side of the page. After triggering the menu, please allow a moment for it to load in its entirety.

Accessibility enhancements this widget offers include:

  • Keyboard navigation for non-mouse navigation
  • Big cursor to make it easier to see where you are on the page
  • Three contrast modes that change the website color scheme to make reading easier
  • Bigger text
  • Desaturate
  • Link highlighter
  • Legible fonts
  • Screen reader

WCAG 2.0 Gravity Forms plugin

Accessibility enhancements this plugin offers include:

  • Wraps radio, checkbox and list (repeater) fields in a fieldset.
  • Improves form validation by displaying an on-page message describing how many errors there were. The message contains a list of the form fields with errors, a description of each error and a link to the field.
  • Adds aria-describedby attributes for date and website fields, providing clear instructions for screen reader users on the required format.
  • Adds aria-describedby attributes for fields that have failed validation, providing clear instructions for screen reader users on what the error is.
  • Disables the Gravity Forms configured tabindex, so users are not able to tab between fields and on-page links.
  • Changes links in the form body, such as field descriptions or HTML fields, to open in a new window, with a title added for screen reader users that reads “this link will open in a new window.”
  • Improved file upload field, wrapped in a fieldset, clearly identifying to screen reader users any file size or file type restrictions.
  • Improved field instructions: if a description has been provided, the field is described by it using the aria-describedby attribute.

Divi Accessibility plugin

A WordPress plugin that improves Divi accessibility in accordance with WCAG 2.0 guidelines.

Accessibility enhancements this plugin offers include:

  • Adds appropriate ARIA attributes
  • Improved keyboard navigation in menus and submenus
  • Fixes missing and incorrectly assigned labels
  • Makes modules such as Toggle and Accordion focusable and keyboard interactive
  • Adds a visual outline to focusable elements for keyboard-only navigation
  • Ability to change the keyboard-only outline color
  • Fixes Divi incorrectly using screen reader classes
  • Adds a “Skip to Content” link optimized for Divi markup
  • Hides icons from screen readers that can affect the reading of text
  • Fixes duplicate menu IDs
  • Tota11y integration

Custom jQuery

We have written a jQuery script to make the mobile menu navigable with a keyboard.

Alt Tags

We have optimized our alt tags for accessibility. Decorative image tags have been intentionally left empty at times to minimize confusion and enhance screen reader performance.

Default Site Color Contrast Ratio

We have updated our site colors and removed or enhanced background images in places to meet the WCAG 2.0 color contrast ratio standard of 4.5:1.

Disclaimer

We will continue our efforts to constantly improve the accessibility of our site and services, in the belief that it is our collective moral obligation to allow seamless, accessible and unhindered use for those of us with disabilities.

Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully adapted to the strictest accessibility standards. This may be the result of not having found the most appropriate technological solution, an editing error, or software updates outside of our control (for example, a WordPress update that breaks our custom jQuery scripting).
